Turkey Sausage and Peppers

This is by far one of our favorite new recipes. I made this for the first time a few months ago when I noticed the turkey sausage on sale for $2 per pack at my local Meijer. We tried it and LOVED it. If you gave someone this sausage, they would never in a million years think that it’s turkey and not true kielbasa. It’s that good.

You can make this dish as simple or as complicated as you like. You can add as many or as few ingredients as you like too. Around our house I like to keep it simple, unless I have a lot of extra veggies that I need to use.


 Turkey Sausage and Peppers

Serves 2

What You’ll Need:

1 Package Elkrich Smoked Turkey Sausage

2 Peppers of your choosing

1/4 onion, chopped

2 cloves of garlic, minced

extra veggies {optional}

olive oil

salt & pepper to taste

Note: I’ve served this two ways: once with brown rice and the other with cabbage sauteed right in the peppers. We preferred the cabbage. The choice is yours though and your possibilities are endless.

1. Gather 2 non-stick pans and add about a tablespoon of olive oil to each. Heat the oil to about medium heat.

2. Chop your mies en plas {ingredients} and add them to your oil.

3. Sautee your veggies for about 5-7 minutes or until tender.

4. While your veggies are sauteeing, slice your sausage into whatever shape you’d like. We like them on a diagonal.

5. Add your sausage to your unoccupied pan that has been heating. Make sure not to crowd your sausage. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until they have a nice golden brown color.

6. Combine your sauage and your veggies into one skillet. Serve and Enjoy!
