Saving Money Through Online Sites

Let’s take a minute and talk about shopping. We all need to shop on a steady basis. We need food, toiletries, and even if you don’t like clothes, we still need them. You can shop in-store or online. There are different ways to save for each, but today I’m going to discuss how to save money when shopping online.

We’ve all done it at one point or another. There are things online that are readily available that are not available in stores. Then there are some of us who are not fortunate enough to live by major stores that carry everything that we may need or want ::cough cough:: like shoes ::cough cough::.

Saving Money Online

There are a few sites that I use on a regular basis to ensure that I save the most that I can.

Ebates – Ebates is a site that pays you to shop! I thought it was too good to be true, but it was referred by a reputable source so I decided to check it out. When you first sign up you get a $10 gift card to your choice of three stores. I chose Target for mine and had it in my mailbox just a few days later. I made my first purchase through ebates that same week and immediately earned $4.00. You can choose to have payments made to your paypal account or have a check sent to your home.

The site is easy to use. You just type in the store you’re looking for, click “take me to the store” and that’s it. You just shop like you normally would. The way that they are able to pay you for shopping with them is that each store pays them a referral fee for getting customers to go to their site. Ebates shares that referral fee with you! Each store is different in the rate that you make back, but it’s still totally worth it {if your store has a 5% referral rate and you spend $50, that’s $2.50 you get back in your ebates account}. You’re getting money back on something that you would have bought anyway. It’s a no brainer for me.

Amazon – I love Amazon. They have pretty much everything on there and you can usually find things at a discounted rate. I love to shop for shoes, purses and home and kitchen gadgets through Amazon. They also have their Prime membership available for $79 per year. With this membership you get FREE two day shipping, access to thousands of movies and TV shows, access to trade books with other kindle owners and more. If you purchase from Amazon on a regular basis, then I would highly suggest this service.

If you only use Amazon every once in a while, then I suggest signing up for the 30 day free trial of Prime and using all the advantages that come with it for a full month. We have done this twice and as long as you remember to cancel {which is fairly easy} then you’re all set! Amazon Prime customers sometimes also receive discounts on products – I had a friend save as much as $15 for just signing up for the trial. She cancelled the free trial the next day but was still able to access the perks for the full 30 days.

Amazon is also awesome for their Subscribe and Save option. If you have something that you purchase on a regular basis from Amazon {for example diapers}, this option would have it automatically sent to you and at a reduced rate too.

Even if you don’t do anything special with Amazon, it’s awesome for regular shopping. All Amazon purchases of $35 or more are eligible for free standard shipping {this does not include purchases from individual vendors}. Check them out if you haven’t already.

Retail Me Not – This is another site that I love to check before I make any purchase. You do not need to sign up on this site, just go and type in the store your looking for. When you do this, any available coupon codes for that site will pop up. Every time I shop, I go through Ebates and then search Retail Me Not for coupons. There’s always a way to save a little more on any purchase. Using Ebates and Retail Me Not saves you the maximum amount!

Zaycon Foods – This one is a little different than the ones I mentioned above in that it’s a food distributor. This is a good way to get bulk natural meats for your family at a reduced price. This company will send you an email when a new “event” will be occurring. Events are time when they will be in your area with a specific food – it could be steaks, sausages, ground beef, chicken, etc. The meats usually come in 40 lb packages and are brought to your designated pick up location on a designated day. These events sell out quickly, so if you want to use this service, sign up as soon as you receive the email.

I hope this helps you save some money next time you shop online. Let me know if you have any questions. I’m always happy to help!
